Let's get started
Please note we are practicing on Saturday at USA starting at 6:00 p.m. I would like the girls at the facility no later than 5:45 p.m. ready to start. I want to talk to the girls for a couple minutes and do not want to use field time to talk. PLEASE HAVE THE GIRLS WEAR THEIR BLACK PRACTICE JERSEYS AND SHORTS!
See the web calendar for the latest version of the practice/game schedule, please note a couple new events as well as new start times. I am still waiting on confirmation on the speed training for Sunday, that date may turn into Saturday but I will give you as much notice as possible. Sorry for any confusion. There will be "adds" onto the game schedule as the fields become available but we will not have this information until at least the end of March.
I will mention again that I want to play in as many tournaments (that make sense for our girls) as possible, this means that we might be playing on Memorial Day weekend, Mother's Day, Father's Day, and 4th of July...I will give you as much notice as possible, the tournaments are now starting to get posted and we should be able to decide by January what makes the most sense for us....
I have to make a final decision on a "dome" tournament, please let me know if there is a conflict with any other sport or activity the last weekend of February or the first weekend of March.
I passed out calendars to everybody before we "broke" in the fall, I need to know if your daughter is unavailable for a given day or weekend. I just want to have as much notice as possible when going to be missing girls....We will still play but I do still want to know...
Look forward to seeing all of you on Saturday!!!

Time Off
Sunday's game concluded our fall work outs, but the girls should continue to work on their own...Batting cages, hitting lessons, pitching, pitching lessons anything they do from today to when we begin our indoor workouts are a huge plus. I think the girls made tremendous strides from tryouts to yesterday, but there is still a lot of work that needs to be done to take this team to the next level.
Rockers Gold vs. Frankfort Flames
On Sunday morning, the Gold played the Frankfort Flames for the last game of the fall season. The girls were a little rusty during warm-ups , since last week's game was rained out. The wind was blowing out at Kiwanis, so it seemed like it would be a great day for hitters. The first couple innings the pitchers dominated with the Flames left fielder making 2 great catches. The Gold scored 2 runs in 3 straight innings and then pulled away in the last 3 innings to put the game away. It was a great team effort with every girl making plays on the field or at bat.

Angela, Haley, Kathleen, Lauren, Megan and Rebecca all had solid seasons for their schools.
We continue to see Rocker girls competing at Junior Highs in the southwest suburbs.

Battle of the Bats
12U Gold Wins NSA B World Series Bid
The 12U Gold played their 1st tournament of the season at the Battle of the Bats weekend. The 12U Gold had a great weekend while playing at home during the tournament. The girls had played several practice games this fall but now it was time to play for real.
Pool play was 3 back to back games against the Plainfield Twisters, Roselle Rampage and the 11U Rockers Black. Sara H., Kathleen and Rachel all pitched strong complete games. On a warm Saturday evening playing under the lights, the girls came ready to hit. The Gold outscored their opponents 35 to 5 over these 3 games. Angela (twice) & Rachel both went deep with home runs while Rebecca, Amy, Kathleen and Lauren added extra base hits.
On Sunday, the championship bracket meant first playing the Shockers. A solid defense by Sarah K, Allison, Ashlee ensured the victory.
The next opponent was Rippit Fastpitch. Rippit took an early lead but the 12U Gold fought back to win 5 -3. Megan threw out a base runner at second trying to steal. Mel and Haley had quality at bats to contribute in an efficient win over a good team.
The championship game was between the 2 undefeated teams in the tournament. It was a tense, hard fought battle between the two teams. The Bulls / Sox Academy scratched out 2 runs after their first 2 at bats. The Gold fought back but eventually fell 4 to 1 to the Bulls / Sox Academy.
Overall; the Gold was 5 – 1 for the weekend, taking 2nd place in the tournament after falling to the Bulls / Sox Academy in the championship game. The 12U Gold was the highest placing B team in the 12U bracket, winning its bid to the 2008 NSA B World Series. Congratulations to the team and especially to the coaches who stepped in for Coach Beatty over the weekend.
